Hi Amanda,
This was my struggle as well...feeling bad about wanting money or material possessions. I grew up in a Catholic family, went to a Catholic school etc and learned all the limiting and controlling beliefs surrounding money. I know this is where a huge part of my limitations come from. We are brainwashed into thinking that having the good things in life is bad, so we choose debt, poverty, financial struggle over having abundance because we think it's the 'good' thing to do. Being in debt is not good. Being stressed because of money is not good. Not having enough money to buy clothes, fix the car, buy food, etc, is not good.
My question is: If we weren't supposed to enjoy money/possessions, then why did God put them on the earth? To tempt us? I don't think so. It's so we can enjoy them.

I am slowly relearning that it's okay to love money and that it's okay to want 'things'. Because of these struggles with money, I'm currently writing a book called Dear Money because I want people to become friends with money and not feel bad because they want to bring it into their lives.

I say, keep asking for it and truly believe that you deserve it, because you do. One thing I do to remind myself of how deserving I am is look at other people around me who seem to have money coming in and ask the question, "Are they more deserving than me?" The answer is always no. I'm just as deserving as they are.

I'm also dealing with trapped emotions surrounding money and I'm finding some success with that as well.
So, keep going and good luck!

Dear Amanda, I feel all the previous answers have said it all practically! They are absolutly right in saying that wanting money is not wrong but think of it, if you want more money it sends out the message to the Universe that you haven't got enough - so is your worrying about it... So, like Roxydickens says, never think you haven't got enough... be gratefull for the abundance you have already and bless all the pennies that you spend. Allways be gratefull first and say something like: "Thank you for the abundance I already have and for sending me more money to spend for other people like my daughters or husband". The more you worry about the money you haven't got the more you will attract a lack of money!!! I know this is really difficult to do but the Universe is one of abundance. There is really enough for everybody and that is what you have to really believe - which, I agree, goes against all we have ever been taught! So be positive and allways thankful to be blessed with all that you need. Remeber: "Ask and it shall be given unto you"! But remember to ask thankfully and to allways be grateful for what you already have. By the way I think Gregg's pictures are beautiful!
With love and blessings

Good reminder Pat, an old wise one once told me "mediocrity will always attack brilliance".

I agree with you, I think Amanda is already very successful and like you, I believe that this is a sign of some really good things on the way for her.

I have meaning to comment much before now, so, my apologies to Amanda for taking so long.

It seems that Amanda has become successful! How wonderful! How do I know? Because she is being castigated, or, attacked if you will.

This is because criticism comes with the territory when you are succeeding, goal setting and experiencing joy. Have you noticed that anyone who is not succeeding has a tendency toward jealousy and a judgmental attitude toward those that do? In addition, criticizing is a way of blaming, which enforces a victimization role.

The money for which you speak is really an analogy. An analogy for happiness. Happiness brought on by the joy of moving forward in a positive direction. Joy derived from doing, being, growing and yes, providing for you and your family to the extent to which you can envision.

The money which you can create from your mental image is primarily a manifestation of one's self confidence. Confidence, joy, attainment of goals, satisfaction and striving to fulfill aspirations are the antithesis of despair and dis-satisfaction with the results of our labors.

I have experienced poverty. It brought no joyousness, satisfaction, confidence, sense of purpose or the opportunity to assist others in poverty. It did lower my self esteem, increase the stress of my daily existence and increase a feeling of loss of control over my life's direction.

So, rejoice in the disparaging remarks, because that just means you have turned away from the crowd which is resentful of those who find, embrace and relish joy.

There's nothing wrong with desiring a wealthy lifestyle. People who have a hard time with the concept sometimes haven't figured out how to get out of their own troubles and don't have a belief system they trust enough to turn to for help. They also sometimes put wealth and worth on opposite sides of the same coin.

I think the tricky thing about money is remembering to think well of it whether it is coming in or going out. It's very easy to enjoy the 'in' part. The 'out' part is another thing.

People so often look at money and see it as something fixed. They see numbers and feel bills or checks in their hands and think of it as something tangible.

The truth is that money is very fluid. It flows around the world like a huge river. Money isn't really something you can hold onto - well you can - but money is meant as an exchange. The hard part for a lot of us is learning how to enjoy the exchange when we are the ones paying the bills, etc. There's generally not a problem with the receiving end :)

So here's how I solved the problem for me. I came up with an affirmation I say to myself whenever I am the one opening my wallet to pay a bill, put gas in the car or at the grocery store: "I am so grateful to be able to return this money to the rivers of abundance knowing that everyone and everything it touches will be blessed in perfect ways."

It always makes me smile when I say it because I know blessings are very powerful things. And even when I send in payments to the phone company or whatever, I know the people handling the check will be blessed in perfect ways. Wherever the money I release goes, blessings go with it - right down to the penny.

Some people may think it's a limited statement because it doesn't address the return of more money. When I release the money though, I know I am standing in the river of abundance. Too many people are standing in a kiddie pool pouring out cups of water only when neccesary while worrying about how to replenish the slowly dimishing water supply.

For me, it's the perfect answer. And being able to write and share it here makes it more powerful because hopefully it will be useful to someone else and more blessings will find their way into the hearts and hands of the people who need them.

Thank you for the opportunity to share!

Oh, and to the people that judged you or called you sinful or greedy....

Obviously, in their exalted position of superiority, they are basing their right to judge on the fact they are soooooo spiritual.

Yet if they are judging you, how can they be spiritual at all?

Someone once said about removing the beam from your eye, before you remove the speck in anothers... Hmm just a thought.

I am not Abraham/Terah, but if I were, I would say something like....

I love the situation I am in, why, because I love it, I am not resisting it, thereby I am in a good place of allowing what I do want here.

My honesty and candour has become a profound advantage, as an abundance coach and belief healer, how could I serve others in any effective way if I had not experienced the same myself?

As I move through and heal and achieve the inevitable success and well being that is my birthright, I will be able to inspire others to do the same, thereby, eventually leaving a legacy of a more and more abundance, for myself, and others, not only with the marvellous outer strategies I am learning (like internet marketing), which will continue to grow as I do, but also master the "inner game" and be able to introduce more and more people to the healed positive psychology that I am developing.

As I provide people with this service, blended with a great understanding of contemporary spirituality, and compassion based on my experiences I become more and more popular and in demand. Consequently, my bank account swells, and my pride (rightly so).

I see that my talents as a homeschooling mum, salesperson, marketer, and radio presenter compliment my path perfectly, it is no coincidence that I am meeting and associating with the people that I am right now.

I am contributing to a more evolved and prosperous society, always learning and growing (being stuck is impossible), without my current experience how could I be a teacher of any kind and serve others at all? This experience however has been a springboard to more and more and more.

Even though we all have doubts from time to time, I feel the truth of these words, and let them sink into my being.

I feel the inspiration and joy of these words, and go forth in joy, and take my next step towards my inevitable well being and success, and I allow myself to have more than I ever thought possible.

There is great love for you here

Amen to that Amanda!

Your honesty and heartfelt feelings shine through your lastest Blog, bless you for being brave enough to share your feelings so honestly. So many of us can empathise with everything you said.

There is nothing wrong with wanting more money, it is the same as wanting more health or more love in your life, it is a request for more energy and the form you require at the moment is money.

There is nothing wrong in wanting to receive money especially as when it is in return for all the effort you send out into the world. So many of us solopreneurs understand how frustrating it is to work hard sending good energy out into the world and not getting anything back!

Energy is a two way street not a one way street. Therefore as solopreneurs we must always check that we are getting back what we put out if not more.

Thanks for the reminder about the Science of Getting Rich book, I haven't read mine for a couple of years, it will be good to re-read dear Wallace's wisdom.

What keeps me going is the free daily Abraham-Hicks quotes I get, (who by the way were the true originators of all the Law of Attraction stuff like The Secret) some examples below:

“Reduce your workload by 30% and increase your fun load by 30% and you will increase your revenues by 100%. And you will increase your productivity by 10,000%. (If there could be such a percentage.) More fun, less struggle -- more results on all fronts”.
All Is Well

“Offer a vibration that matches your desire rather than offering a vibration that keeps matching what-is”.
All Is Well

“You cannot receive vibrationally something that you are not a vibrational match to. And so, bless those who are finding abundance. And in your blessing of them and their abundance, you will become abundant, too. But in your cursing of their abundance, you hold yourself apart from it. It is a law—it is a powerful law”. All is Well.

“Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don't want”. All is Well

"You will notice that those who speak most of prosperity, have it. Those who speak most of health, have it. Those who speak most of sickness, have it. Those who speak most of poverty, have it. It is Law. It can be no other way... The way you feel is your point of attraction, and so, the Law of Attraction is most understood when you see yourself as a magnet getting more and more of the way you feel. When you feel lonely, you attract more loneliness. When you feel poor, you attract more poverty. When you feel sick, you attract more sickness. When you feel unhappy, you attract more unhappiness. When you feel healthy and vital and alive and prosperous—you attract more of all of those things". All is Well

"There is nothing for you to go back and live over, or fix, or feel regret about now. Every part of your life has unfolded just right. And so --now -- knowing all that you know from where you now stand, now what do you want? The answers are now coming forth to you. Go forth in joy, and get on with it". All is Well

May we all be abundantly Blessed.

It can be no other way… The way you feel is your point of attraction, and so, the Law of Attraction is most understood when you see yourself as a magnet getting more and more of the way you feel. When you feel lonely, you attract more loneliness. When you feel poor, you attract more poverty. When you feel sick, you attract more sickness. When you feel unhappy, you attract more unhappiness. When you feel healthy and vital and alive and prosperous—you attract more of all of those things”. All is Well

“There is nothing for you to go back and live over, or fix, or feel regret about now. Every part of your life has unfolded just right. And so –now — knowing all that you know from where you now stand, now what do you want? The answers are now coming forth to you. Go forth in joy, and get on with it”. All is Well

May we all be abundantly Blessed.

Dear Amanda, usually I don't reply or post to blogs but I think this is a little bit different. I read Mr. Wattles book over a year ago. It was suggested by an e-mail I received from a very nice Australian woman named Hayley. She had given it to her mother to cheer her up at a particularly tough time in her life. Her mother was a top TV producer who was experiencing some severe turmoil in her life. Her television production company was almost defunct, a close relative had died and she was near broke, both spiritually and monetarily. After reading this short, old book, her mother's life completely turned around and she received so much abundance she is still in shock from it. That woman's name is Rhonda Byrne and she produced the hit movie,"The Secret." This story is absolutely true. It seems one of the techniques is to act as if you have already have the money. I know this is tough to master and the gurus say to clear yourself. I am also a firm believer in prayer so you might try this. Writing a script works for some like "I'm so happy and grateful now that I've got all this money." If not enough money is a problem, write something like "Dear God, please solve this problem I'm having. I could really use some cash. I'm not doing so well at this myself so I'm going to have to put this on your shoulders for now." Write in on a piece of paper and put it in a God box away somewhere and just leave it alone. After you get some dough ( I'm American) you can take your note out of there and get the money yourself. It can't hurt and it works right here in Sin City so maybe it's OK in the old country as well. And don't focus on lack. I know for sure that attracts more of the same. Bon Chance!
Hi Buz,
Thank you so much for your comment. I am starting to feel a bit better, knowing it is not just me that feels that way.

I have not read Dr Joseph Murphy's book, but I will be doing so.

A friend of mine has just pointed me to a book called "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace Wattles. It was written in 1910, but it still seems to be valid today.

He opens chapter one with a brilliant quote "Whatever may be aid in praise of poverty, the fact remains that it is not possible to live a really complete or successful life unless one is rich."

He goes on to talk about having money as being the means to the fullest expression of body, mind and soul and that you can only really help other people when you have the financial means to do that.

I was really beginning to feel the old programming of "It is not spiritual to have money" come up and it sounds as if both of these texts blow that theory right out of the water!

Thank you Buz.
With abundant blessings.
